The short film Sandiwara is a unique collaboration between Academy Award-winning filmmaker Sean Baker, who wrote, directed, and edited the film alongside the London-based fashion house self-portrait, as part of the brand’s Residency programme. Starring Malaysian-born Academy Award-winning actress Michelle Yeoh, the film is a bold, immersive celebration of womanhood, cultural identity, and culinary heritage. Shot in Yeoh’s home country of Malaysia, the project was approached with a stripped-back, immersive methodology, filmed on iPhone to remain agile and unobtrusive within real environments. This allowed filming in active night markets with minimal disruption, capturing authentic interactions and textures of everyday life.  In a stunning display of talent, Yeoh delivered a transformative performance by playing five different leading characters in the short film. The film premiered at the 2026 Berlin Film Festival.
