Superprime is proud to welcome Danish-Cuban director, Sebastian Lopez, to its roster for commercial and branded representation in the US, UK, and Amsterdam, marking his first commercial representation in these markets.
Lopez grew up between contrasts: ten years of violin, rooted in structure and discipline, alongside a steady diet of Cristiano Ronaldo clips, old Pepsi ads, and skits on YouTube, Vine, and TikTok. He began filming shorts on his mom’s iPhone, writing and shooting sketches throughout high school. He went on to study communications and work at an advertising agency, but the pull was always toward film.
He began his foray into writing and directing with a series of character-led shorts including his breakout collaboration with Globe Studios, which found viral traction on TikTok and introduced his now recognizable style. From there came commercial work for brands including Red Bull and Veo, with “Season Doesn’t Start Without Veo” continuing his run of high-energy, performance-driven storytelling. His self-written short film ‘That’s AI’ further expands that world, blending humor with what’s happening in culture and the world around him. Inspired as much by meme culture as by early 90s sports commercials, he leans into rawness over polish, allowing characters to carry the frame.
He claimed his seat at the table quickly and established a name for himself as one to watch. Only last year, he was named the TRUE Rising Star by the TRUE Awards – an annual celebration of commercial filmmaking organized by the Danish Producer’s Association.
In a summary of the juror’s motivations behind selecting Sebastian, they wrote: “The award goes to a person who is well-versed in humor and who, with a strong visual storytelling style, manages to weave stories together so that you never know what awaits around the next corner. One thing we know for sure, however: the stars await ahead.”
