Ben Quinn directs a moving spot for Dick’s Sporting Goods

See what happens when a youth football program loses everything, but has the will to keep going.

Director Ben Quinn tells the inspiring story of a Houston youth football team and their coach in a short film called ‘Fifth Ward Saints’ for Dick’s Sporting Goods.

Carlos Honore created the Fifth Ward Saints to help at-risk kids. In 2014, their equipment was stolen. Despite obstacles Carlos was resilient, persevering to be able to give kids in his community the tools to be successful and to survive. “It’s more than football, it’s family,” a mother of one of the players says.

Ben is an award-winning commercials director. His reel features an impressive collection of campaigns for the Cricket World Cup, Panera and Center Parcs, as well as many other internationally renowned brands.

‘Fifth Ward Saints’ is a beautiful spot that’s true to form for the director, showcasing powerfully real performances with talent and heart. “The coach’s emotional response … is truly moving,” writes Creativity who awarded it Editor’s Pick.

The much-needed surprise received by Honore is supplied by the Dick’s Sporting Goods Foundation. To be part of the movement, purchase Sports Matter green shoelaces at any Dick’s store nationwide or online. Dick’s will donate $2 from every shoelace sale to the Foundation’s Sports Matter program, which is dedicated to helping save underfunded youth sports programs across the country.
